.: My recent addiction :.

I love reading scrapbook magazines and I collect scrapbook papers, but I'm so not creative when it comes to scrapbooking. You need a lot of materials to make your design look good. The embellishments, stamps and accents can be very expensive. That's why when I came across the digital scrapbooking kits online, I got hooked. There are a lot of freebies, and if you purchase the kit you can use it as often as you like. This is my first try, I haven't used too many elements just yet, still trying to get my feet wet. Now I know what to do during my summer break! And here are some of my favorite place to get digital scrapbook materials (most of them are free!):
1. Digifree 2. Yardbunny's Inspirations 3. Oscraps 4. PCLayers 5. Shabby Princess 6. NBK Scrap 7. Ikea Goddess 8. Scrap Orchard

.: Taking things for granted :.

If only I did not drop my keys yesterday I probably wouldn't notice these small flowers. I walk past it everyday whenever I walk out from my house, but never noticed the small bush near my landlord's garage. We're too busy to 'stop and smell the roses', and probably your mind is screaming 'POLLEN!!' if you even tried to smell the flowers . Oh how we take things for granted everyday. You'll never know when something so precious to you will disappear forever... (like that green logo of a certain coffee company.. Please bring the old logo back, the world is not the same without it!! I promise I won't complained about it anymore, just stop printing the new brown one!! such a pain to my eyes...)

.: 200th Post! :.

I posted 200 times already! Apparently I like to write about myself, a lot... :D I was feeling really frustrated with my homework last week and worked myself literally to death (because I forgot to eat real meals and munch on bags of chocolates, popcorns and chips instead and drink about 6 cups of coffee per day). I was absent-minded most of the time, my heart just drop whenever my professor walk past me, just freaking myself out. And then I gave her my works, fearing the worst. Yesterday was probably the first time I smile in that type class. She finally liked something I created! If I can be even more dramatic, I'd have to say I thought that a day like yesterday would never come. I think the moral of the story is that you can achieve anything if you work really hard. *insert applause here* Sounds naive but it's true. Another happy-ending story is about a classmate of mine who was trying to get a summer internship with his favorite designer but he does not accept interns. Then he went to an event and found the designer was there too. He approached the man and strike up a conversation. In the end he got the internship! Of course, being a designer your portfolio is your weapon, but there are always exceptions :) (Does not mean that you can slack of with your work and just brush up your charms though...)

.: collecting prints :.

There's something about a blank, white wall that annoys me. It feels cold and just waiting to be decorated. I still have some empty walls in my room that awaits pretty decorations, so instead of taping free postcards to the wall I actually purchase a print from the Black Apple. I have mentioned about her yesterday, and I decided to go ahead and buy the Quiet Room. I love her work, there's some dark energy even in her cheerful paintings. I've my eye on this one too from Gorjuss. Her paintings are so adorable!

.: on the brink of insanity :.

I feel so trapped these past few days, haven't seen most of my friends, haven't got the chance to go out except for school, and cannot stand to look at my typography homeworks anymore. I feel guilty when I sleep, the homeworks haunted me, and in the end I cannot sleep until like 5-6AM... I know my friends were right, that the only solution to this is to work harder and try your best. My professor suggested to spend at least 10hrs on your free day to do the homeworks, so I tried. After sitting in front of my computer for 12hrs straight yesterday I feel so fed up, tired and a bit lonely (but productive...). Just thinking how sad it is if I disappear and no one will notice, since I'm usually holed up in my room anyway. The only consolation for this is in the end, I will be a better graphic designer. Right now I just feel like a prisoner of Franklin Gothic and its family. Depression aside, look what I found during the break! Can I be a good jewelry curator? :)

.: melancholia :.

update: I just purchased the last of the melancholia cameo!! woohoo!!! I messaged Anne Julie and it turns out that she still have one left! So happy!! cannot believe I still shop although I'm staying at home, but woohoo! Can't wait to see my lovely necklaces!

.: glorious sadness :.

Ever since my former co-worker purchased a painting from Copro-Nason gallery of a lady with elongated figure holding a slim cigarette (a gothic version of Audrey Hepburn's Holly Golightly), I've been in love with sad, quiet, and dark paintings. Then my friend introduced Amy Sol to me, that up until today, still remains my favorite illustrator. I found AnneJulie a month ago and posted her work. I was in love with her cameos and brooches, but she did not have anymore jewelry, up until today. I decided to get my hands on at least one of them, so here's what I purchased:It is called Glorious Sadness, and I think it's absolutely gorgeous. I love her melancholia series but in the end I settled for this one. I love this, this and this but they were sold out. From her blog I also found her friend who sells very beautiful prints of her original paintings. I want to buy them all! :D

.: ah, Engrish... :.

No matter how whitewashed I am, there's still that trace of Indo accents in my speech(es) that really annoys me. I cannot pronounce some words correctly, like my 'three' will sound like 'tree', and whenever I say 'thirty' it will sounds like 'dirty', which I need to learn asap since after next year *gasp*, I will say it a lot. And of course, there's my messy grammar. Has, have, had, whatever... :) One thing I am proud of is I know how to spell. Despite I have terrible grammar and mediocre speech skill, I will never do this or this. And of course, since Indonesia is such a beautiful city, I expected there will be at least one that came from Indo :) Ah, so much for nationalism...

.: about that faded photographs :.

Found this photographer from Creature Comforts' blog. Love the style of photographs she took!

.: cravings :.

My professor once said that if you look at your project for too long you might end up hating it. I do HATE it very much right now. So I need to look at something else that I like :) I always love Anthropologie and their ethereal, sweet and romantic clothes. And I love how they do merchandising in their stores. And their catalogs. Basically everything they have, really. I did not pay as much attention to the sister store, Urban Outfitters. I love browsing their products but I never bought anything. Lately I got very interested because of their catalog; they used faded, old-style photographs, Holga style, in their catalog. Love em! And of course I went online and browse their products, and found some cute ones. :)
