.: hold my hand, never let me go :.

Everybody said that San Francisco is a romantic city (albeit the background noises from traffic and chinatown) As I walk around extremely packed Union Square today due to the gay pride parade, I noticed how couples (straight or not) tend to hold hands while walking (hey, I caught you two holding hands today, yes you, you know who you are!!) I am a big sucker for romance, and showing how proud you are to have a loved one gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling. Holding hands is such a simple but sweet gesture. When I saw Wall-E I was so touched by his curiosity to hold someone's (or something's) hand. On top of that I saw mr Yo's picture of his Mom and Dad holding hands, you are so blessed! How nice it is if everyone keeps the romance alive after being together for so many years; I'm sure there won't be as many divorces in this world. Therefore I'm exceedingly proud to have friends like you guys, all of you who still hold hands, who looked at their spouses as if there are no one else in this world. I rooted for you all!

.: even more shoes :.

Some people said that shoes are chocolate for the feed. I, apparently, would like to slather as much chocolate as possible on my feet because I'm so very obsessed with shoes. Why? Because my feet is stable; it will not go up a size or two so whenever I tried on a 5.5 it will fit. And shoes that I got 6 years ago will still fit me today, unlike my jeans. Plus I love my toes. (the last one is just my failed effort to justify all the shoes purchases) Everyone who stop by my shoes rack will say the same thing: they all look the same. Open-toed with bow on it in white, burgundy, black, black+white... And I'm obsessed with Ferragamo's Varina because they have sweet little bow on them. I used to stay away from flats because I feel so short and stubby but I CANNOT walk around in SF with high heels, unlike some people I know (she-who-lives-right-next-to-my-room, hats off to you missy).
Therefore I tried to branch out and have more variety in my shoes collections. (this one is hopefully a more successful attempt to justify my last purchase) Something like these are my latest nightmares (and yours too, Mr S, just wait and see! muhuahaha):

.: random :.

As I'm researching for my thesis I came across this blog and found it interesting+funny. Enjoy!

.: f*ing :.

Since an asterisk is often used to replace an alphabet or more when it comes to profane words, we immediately connect them together. Why asterisk? Because it is the only character that does not have anything else attached to it. Dash = number. Brackets? Ampersands? Doesn't make any sense and look like a typo. Example: b(llsh)t, f&&k. See? But everyone understand which alphabet were replaced in f**k (and no, usually they're not o and r, don't be a sm*rt-a**) So naturally, when I saw this.... you know what comes to mind.
FYI it comes from a packaging for a pair of socks from my friend

.: will work for shoes :.

Can you guess which foot belongs to me?
Answer below, no peeking!

Pedicure is one of the things that make me happy for a very long time. My roomie & I found this gem just right across the street and we were sold instantly. The place was so nice and clean, the vietnamese ladies were nice and courteous (they don't gossip about us loudly!), they served us home-brewed Starbucks coffee, and they have massaging recliners! I got my money worth alrite! I haven't had any pedicures since.... last November. Can anyone imagine how nasty my feet looked? LOL ... I felt a bit bad for my pedicure lady, she has to scrub all those callouses. My toes look so pretty and my legs were so soft and glossy!

And then we went to Nordstrom Rack and ruined our bank account. Well mine, mostly. I couldn't resist this beauté by Chloé (oooh, did Stella design my shoes?) I'm still feeling very, very, very bad but I'm so reluctant to return them... I'll make sure I put them to good use and dear friends, please don't let me buy anything else until..... next month. I may need to open an etsy shop to pay for my shoes.

.: labbit love :.

Oops, 5AM and still wide awake. School mode - ON. Need to finish my book ASAP, and I was on a roll designing until I got stuck on the written part. No idea how to write a formal, personal autobiography. Always thought that it'll be easy peasy but apparently it's not. Therefore I'll close the night (or more like, the morning) with unnecessary browsing. I always wanted one of these after I saw a bunch of them at Urban Outfitters. Too bad they're so pricey.

Love their new catalog. I thought they're already doing amazing merchandising, but this new catalog makes me want to beg for a job with their art department even more.

.: lace! :.

Isn't these necklaces gorgeous? Imagine wearing them with a simple black dress or just a white t-shirt! I was blown away when I saw them on this blog, although I got a feeling that these will be too busy on my thick neck... and not wallet-friendly. Wondering whether I can convert my $5 forever21 necklace and my recent lace purchase into something like that... :p

All from Marquis & Camus collection

.: engrish :.

It's not the car, it's YOU, you bad driver....

I'm lost on this one...

.: back in town :.

And this is my welcoming committee:
That's what I found sitting on my car's window this morning. I forgot how dirty this place is until I'm actually here. And when I thought it cannot get worse than this, I found out something I never foreseen: kids on summer break. Truly hope that my neighbors' kids are not going to hangout on the stairs in front of my window, run around and scream like crazy everyday *fingers crossed*. Obviously I'm not extremely delighted to be back, have to be away from my hun again and actually do some work for my mid-point review.
Since complaining about this place is useless, I tried to focus on happy thoughts. Happy thoughts usually come from food, and my happy food comes from Trader Joe's. I'm crazy for their kettle corn (not too sweet, not too salty) and banana chips. And since it's summer: sweet+tart black cherries. Yum!

.: pixar has done it again! :.

I love, LOVE, LOVE Pixar movies. From Monsters Inc to Ratatouille to my all time favorite, Finding Nemo. I had this conversation yesterday with mr Yo, and we disagreed on our least fave Pixar movie. If I have to choose (or as mr Yo put it: if there's a knife on my neck and I had to choose one), I have to go with A Bug's Life, which was my fave years ago and has been replaced with another pest-inspired-movie: Ratatouille. And don't forget their short movies. Where do they got these fresh ideas?? I was so impressed and inspired to find some fresh ideas of my own :D
Up is another original idea they came up with. Being so visual, the first thing that excites me when I saw the ad was the shiny, colorful balloons. I wasn't 100% sold on a floating house, but whatever. Then I saw the commercials and met the characters (thx to my hun's brother) and of course I fell in love with the dog... Finally I saw the movie, very very impressed and watch it again on the same night, online (only about 25% coz it was already 2AM last night... so zzzzzzz) Up is really different, warm, funny and managed to pull viewers to be involved emotionally (which is what every movie should do, btw...) A lot of little surprises along the way and little funny snippets that keeps me amused, and don't even mention the colorful, beautiful little details. Love it, everyone must see Up! It's an order!

.: PCC flea market :.

Altho I really don't want to wake up early today, I'm glad that I did. (hey, 9 IS early) We went to Pasadena City College's monthly flea market and it was almost as crazy as the Alameda one. I was too busy browsing and forgot to take lots of pictures, but here some if you're interested.
Isn't that pink one yummy?

Horseless carriage!
My hun saw Natalie Portman and her small entourage. I only saw a snippet of her back & side. She seems warm and friendly and pretty (from the back...)
Totally unrelated to Natalie, look what I bought:
It's an antique lace, unworn and obviously unwashed... It still has a price tag attached!I can probably sew this onto a t-shirt or make something out of it... dunno yet. But it's really gorgeous. I don't know why I'm so into lace, and I really don't know what to do with them aside from using them as trimmings. Along with that I also bought a small lace ribbon:
Afterward we went to visit Castle Green's open house & took tons of narcissistic pictures inside. Apparently my hun has an artsy side to him. He's not all engineer inside. Me like this shot:

More pics of the castle later, if anyone's interested.

.: impressive ad :.

You thought you've seen them all, ads of shapes and sizes. Then something like this show up. Clever solution!

.: cannot sleep ... :.

My habit of sleeping at 5AM is catching up with me. Either that or I drank a glass (fine...two) of milk tea before I went to bed. On top of that I had so many things to think about. And now I'm wide awake! How about me sharing another pic of my new interest? :p

Those who knew me well know how much I avoid doing any kind of sports. I hate sweating and messing up my hair. Since my body accumulated double layers of fat these past few years, probably it's time to actually do something about it instead of moping around complaining on how fat I am. It took a lot longer for me to learn a sport activity than any normal human being and sometimes I got frustrated when people forced me to learn faster. I like my own pace and when someone tried to train me boot-camp style I won't be motivated; I'll just quit. Thinking hard, there are some activities I can tolerate and they usually deal with me hitting something. When I was in high school I enjoyed tennis, baseball and badminton (of course I was in a better shape to run back then) On top of that I do enjoy swimming, kickboxing and yoga. Recently my friend introduced me to golf. I like it right away: I don't have to move as much, I don't sweat, and I got to hit something. Of course with my slow-learning ability my friends+hun has to develop a unique teaching methods. My hun said I've improved tho, so let's hope I won't quit this one. :p

.: I approve this message :.

I'm a bit skeptical when it comes to stuff sold on TV (shamwow & slap chop are realllly tempting tho..) My friend Ms M already said that PedEgg works wonders on cracked heels, but whenever I look at it, I cannot help but imagining a veggie slicer or a mandolin. Those scales are so very scary and I just don't want to put my heels against them! Living in cold and foggy SF I can get away from scraping those nasty cracks on my heels by wearing boots & tights, but here in sunny LA I cannot hide no more. It's flipflop season here!
My heels were super nasty before, even my Dad had to complained about them. They were scaly, has deep cracks with dried blood inside them (EWWWW), trapped dirts everyday and I had to scrub them every night. I used pumice stone, a weird-looking callus-remover device from Gehwol with a replaceable blade inside, foot filer (until it's soft and no longer useful) to no avail. My hun has been telling me to try Ped Egg for months and I finally relented. A quick trip to Wal-Mart turned into a pedi-care shopping spree!
Carefully I scrapped my heels, and voila, my cracks disappear. I didn't rub it back and forth like shown on the commercial because it hurt, but if you rub it the same direction as your cracks it will scrap away the dried skin. Now I'm practically addicted :p
