.: new room, new life :.

Ah, finally my new room is looking like a room instead of a warehouse. Some parts are still messy because I don't know what to do with some stuff yet, but the living area is pretty decent. I got more hand-me-downs to store my stuff, so I can "organize" (a.k.a shove-everything-inside-and-forget-about-them).
It's pretty quiet here despite of the 5 dogs, I can hear the raindrops again, without traffic noises & yucky music disturbing my peace (that's right yon, yucky music ... LOL)  Soo.. welcome to my room!

come on in, fresh coffee and snacks are available if you behave...

I color-coordinated my wardrobe. surprised I have tons of black...

.: happy holidays :.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! I went to Trader Joe's yesterday to pick up two buck chuck for chinese new year dinner at my friend's, but I got these lovely mini tulips instead (and champagne. I'm fancy like that). Since my room is a little bland and still super messy, I want something to brighten it up and make it a bit lovelier. Plus, it's valentine's day, so I get myself a little gift. I know it sounds so childish and silly but I still like Valentine's day, too bad it came and went just like a regular Sunday & have to collide with chinese new year. I'm glad there are still couples who celebrate it, like a friend of mine whose husband recorded a video of him singing a love song because she was sent to work abroad. Sweet & heartwarming, isn't it? Somehow european-educated indo are more romantic. It's the cloudy sky and the beautiful scenery, perhaps.

.: found on youtube :.

There are days I thought I may never return to youtube because I'm so sick of those nasty, rude comments people posted. Why so mean to someone who made efforts to post something to entertain you? I don't understand it at all. Then I found this video from this blog, from what I read it is supposed to be a part of a movie directed by Michel Ocelot. What do you think?

.: memento mori :.

It's funny how I took life for granted sometimes. I feel young and quite healthy, and I believe most of my friends are in great shape. That's why everyone was so shocked when we lost one of our dearest friend a month ago. She was a very healthy girl, she exercise regularly, eat normal (no excessive drinking & cholestrol) and very energetic. Always up to anything, very flexible and cheerful. Life was always happy and sunny for her. Simply put : no one ever thought she'll be the first to go.

Nobody really knows how she passed, but everyone said she has no unfinished business, as if she knew her time was up. Whenever you lost someone unexpectedly, you tend to recall the last time you met her/him; your last conversations with them. I vividly remember something Chen did that was unusual. Before I went back to SF, she dropped gifts for me at home (I was away doing last minute shopping) : a necklace and a pair of earrings. I found it weird because she rarely gave out random gifts and we're going to have dinner later that week. She insisted that she wanted to give me something. I didn't think much of it until she passed away. I also recalled our last conversations; how she has grown tired of living in Bandung, with the conservative, gossipy crowds whose daily lives involved trips to beauty shops, arisan and spending their husbands' money. She wanted to be somewhere else, to go as far away as possible from Bandung. Well, she got what she wished for, I'm sure she's with God now and smiling at us from up above. Because that's how I remember her, as a loving, cheerful, kind-hearted girl. We miss you, Chen.

.: urban obsesser :.

I've been told that people are bored with my 'Anthropologian' wardrobe & suggested that I should try different styles. While I beg to differ (I have a signature style, so sue me!), I thought maybe it's fun to have a variety, and lately I've been obsessed with anything Urban (not too far from the sister company Anthropologie, eh) Bags, shoes, accessories... everything. I usually can't pull off anything Urban but whatever ... as long as I like it.
My fave urban bag is back! It's a tad different than my usual bag, and it looks so cool!

so cute with white t-shirt + black blazer + jeans

and a place to display all my daily accessories.

.: namu :.

This place is expensive like you wouldn't believe it; it's so tiny and most of the bartenders/waitresses are full of attitude. Glad ours was nice & friendly. Food was meh, I was just in for the comedy show provided by the comical dinner companions.

.: sent from home :.

Most pictures sent from home are of Chester :D  He's starting to become very demanding :  he has to go out for a drive at least once a day or he'll sulk the whole day & refuse to eat. I used to trick him by driving him around the block, and he was satisfied. Not anymore. He has to go somewhere for real, so my driver took Chester with him when he's running a daily errand for my parents. The weird thing is, he wouldn't even look outside the window like any other normal dog would do; he'd just sat in the back seat acting all bossy. Sounds familiar?

.: the return of youtube wednesday :.

While I don't care for the car (I absolutely hate SUV unless it's free... then I'll shut up), I like the little details in this commercial. The question mark, little dots... very Tolleson design.

Oh and how about this?

.: lazy bum :.

After a month break, I really don't feel like going back to jail  school anymore. Yeah yeah I do want my master's degree and whatnot, but honestly ... it's going to be tough. Now I'm maintaining my own schedule, managing my own project & doing research: it's really scary. No one should give me that much of a responsibility!
A bit of update on life : I'm finally moving out of this apartment! Yay! And here's a peek of my future roommates, for those who've never met them yet :

Yap, those four fluffy creatures will live with me, along with their owners. It just so happened that my friend's roommate is moving out, so I'm moving in with them starting next week. Let's hope I will have more fun in my new place! :D

For my thoughts of the day, I was thinking why the heck do I write this blog in english, since y'all speak Indo anyways. Seriously, I cannot and will not write this blog in Indo. Can you imagine me yapping like this : Setelah satu bulan saya berlibur, rasanya susah sekali kembali ke sekolah. Iya saya tetap mau gelar pascasarjana, tapi tetap saja susah. Apalagi sekarang saya harus mengatur jadwal saya sendiri, ih takut!

* insert a moment of silence here out of 'merinding'*

Did I sound like I'm writing a very bad stiker angkot? Or a very very bad daytime soap script? Yeah, if I'm taking Bahasa Indonesia course in a graduate level I don't think I'll pass. So please, just bear with my bad grammars and limited vocabulary :p
