.: rain :.

warm milk tea. good to the last drop.

As if I haven't said this enough, I love the sounds of rain. The smell of fresh ground. And to be indoor under my blanket with a warm cup of milk tea within a walking distance :)  It has been raining for two straight days and I love it.

.: I hate SF part 2 :.

Honestly everytime I said:"You know what, I kinda like it here", something happened. I was seriously considering staying here and trying to convince beb to moved up north because it is so hard to give up this gorgeous weather (I hate sun+hot weather, fyi) Just last night I told my friends that I certainly don't mind living here; I have a group of friends that I really, really like thanks to my beb+roomies. Then earlier today I walked into my car and found this:
It does not look so bad because I immediately cleaned the broken pieces of glass. But seriously, SF. You don't want me here, I get it. Stop hurting my car!! I went from extremely upset to accepting this as part of life in about 10 minutes. Can't say anything, really. I'm just asking for it. I parked a fairly nice car on a ghetto street leading up to the project. I can't afford living on an apartment with a garage in SF and yet I still want to live here. And the messed up part of this whole thing is, I was calculating the time I have to take care of this and still finishing my homework.

.: i hate SF :.

My poor, poor pearlie that is not so pearly anymore. It has been very much abused by me and this city's inhabitants. First someone dented the side with a shopping cart at Office Depot, the crazy van owner who lived in my building bumped his rusty van onto the rear bumper, countless number of scratches from some failed parallel parking attempts and someone scratch along the side with a green crayon. And now, the masterpiece :
I think some drunk people in North Beach did it because I found a big bottle of beer and beer cans underneath the side view mirror that weren't there before. Why would somebody did that, nobody knows. SanFran's (yes, don't give me attitude when I call your city freakin FRISCO, you sanFran monsters!) residents have been known for their rudeness and ignorance (I planned to advocate against this issue once but my advisors said it's a lost cause) so unfortunately I was not surprised. Very, very upset because it is hard to drive without the right side view mirror. I curse whoever did this to pearlie, may you roast in hell.

.: have a little faith :.

Disorganization has been my weakness for the longest time. I tried but in the end my room looks like the sale section of The Container Store combined with Target's.  Two days ago I was rushing to school, and since there are times I forgot my keys, I double check my giant purse for them. (I hang an oversize keychain, in a shape of a cute camel so I can find them easily) Little did I know that my wallet is lying cozily on top of my bed, still snuggling under my blanket. I went to school, parked my car at my usual safety net(when I'm running late for class), the SFMOMA parking structure. When I was in line to pay, I found out I forgot my wallet (for a moment I thought somebody stole it and was freaking out with cold sweat and minor heart attack) Embarrassed and panicked, I told the cashier that I may have lost my wallet. He looked at me like I was a crazy lady who did not want to pay for my parking spot. Then I offer to leave my camera as a guarantee, but I begged him not to lose it because there are some pictures for my projects that I haven't transferred to my computer yet. Then he took a pity of me and told me that he'll pay the charges for me, I didn't have to leave anything as a guarantee. He only asked me if I could, please remember to give him back the money anytime. When I came back the next day he was so surprised and grateful; he thought I'd just run away. How nice and sincere of him to helped me without expecting something in return, risking his own job. There are still good people in this world, apparently. And I'm glad to be reminded once in a while so I won't lose hope in humanity.

.: namu :.

This place is expensive like you wouldn't believe it; it's so tiny and most of the bartenders/waitresses are full of attitude. Glad ours was nice & friendly. Food was meh, I was just in for the comedy show provided by the comical dinner companions.

.: happy monday ! :.

I'm feeling very festive today and have been listening to Christmas songs. I think it's the weather, all cold and rainy, and Starbucks' red cups with lovely typography on the back. Totally don't want to deal with finals. Just want to sip my warm coffee, hug my shtinky pillow and stare out the windows... Mmm

.: SF Found :.

If only it didn't look a tad nasty I'd probably take it home, dress it up with my next-day outfit. I can redecorate my room with a boutique feeling, with window displays, merchandising and all :p
Sigh ... one day, Maria, one day you'll fly away from this house of sorrow :D

.: sf Found :.

Well technically not SF, but great finds nonetheless right? I have no idea what kind of chair it is. A very decorated baby seat, maybe, but the top part is non removable. Was it a toilet seat? Something to reshape your tush? No idea. And the second picture I found reaaally disturbing. How sad it is that someone throw away a picture of you when you were still young & cute? Although....... on second thought, there are boxes of my old pictures that I wish I can burn & erase from history ... all the 80s hairdos, versace jeans... yikes. Let's hope they are lost during the move, muhuahahaha...

.: SF Found & pics from home :.

Obviously I'm trying to catch up on blog posts in one day, so here goes:

A Damsel in Distress

I found this pink lady just 'hanging' on the fence of Scrap, SF's version of Berkeley's Urban Ore. It's full of scraps, literally. Scraps of paper, junks from offices, used student projects, used cold pressed boards, fabric samples, wallpaper leftovers. Most of the stuff don't have price on them, so you'll have to look poor & sweet when you're there so you won't have to pay more.

Breakfast at Coffee Bean - Bandung

And my mall-hopper parents sent me this picture of their breakfast meal at Coffee Bean, one of my dad's favorite coffee spot. I don't know if any US Coffee Bean offers this, but all Asian Coffee Bean's outlet offer full breakfast sets.

.: BART fashion :.

He was wearing a fully embroidered shirt, with an aviator & matching blue headphone (same as mine!)

I wonder wether green pants & red shoes are 'in' right now,
because I saw two different girls wearing them

She's wearing pattern allover, top with a white knit cap full of fabric flowers

.: love/hate san francisco :.

The little girl was dancing to ZTC's music

porsche ferrari scuderia show

I'm still not loving San Francisco unconditionally, but I learn to accept it. Especially when they come up with the most random festival/celebrations like the Fillmore Festival+Lovefest where everyone can dance around in their birthday suit. This past weekend I got the chance to go to the Columbus Day festival thanks to my friend Joy, whose boy is a drummer in a cool band hired to entertain visitors of the festival. They have everything italian in this festival: food, music, mini casino inside the Catholic school's gym and car show. note: beb pointed out that those are Ferraris that I posted. I had pictures of the Porsches too but clearly I only know Toyota by heart!! I love how creative people dressed during the festival, feels like it's Halloween every week!

.: around SF :.

This is what happened when I had too much junk mail, too much homeworks,
and procrastinating mode-on. I cut them subscription postcards into butterflies and hang them.

Look what I found on the street in Hayes Valley. Somebody got lucky, I guess.

.: short post :.

Hello, anybody there? Anyone still reading? Nobody wants to comments? Sad... :( In that case I'll just have a super short post of some pictures.

I found this interesting door in Berkeley. The name of the house is 'Cathaus'.

Interesting water bottle with reusable glass

I whip a very quick felt project that was inspired by this amazing etsy shop.
Obviously I'm not as good as her, but I need to create something to take my mind off things

.: living the last of my private bathroom days... :.

While others welcome changes with open hands, I see them as overwhelming, especially when the change is not for the better. I especially got easily overwhelmed with new living situation. Having to move away from a place that I like a lot has really gotten into me. I've been spoiled by having such a warm, comfy room, a pretty private bathroom, ample storage spaces, super easy parking situation... Now I have to move somewhere else that is not a very ideal living space for me, but so far it is the only solution I got. I wish people will stop telling me that it's going to be so much better while in reality it is not. One thing that I'm so unwilling to let go is my shiny, pretty private bathroom that I so lovingly decorated... *sniff* So bye bye warm, cozy room ... I'm going to miss you very much.

.: drenched :.

Rain makes me feel melancholic (worse than usual). All I want to do is roll around my bed under my blankets and drink a ginormous cup of coffee. Instead I have to run errands, buy stuff to take home and for my friday projects. Found out I got bad grades (C = lack of effort in AAU and barely passing). I think I'm burned out :(

it's raining like crazy here!

good thing I have my rain boots

So I won't have to sacrifice my new caramel-colored boots

.: praise thee, unlimited+hi-speed internet! :.

I used to complained a lot about living in SanFran, but after 2 months of vacay, I'm glad to breathe SF air... :p And cannot be happier to have unlimited, high speed internet once more. So far I've unpacked most of shtuff, relaxing, watching youtube again, and browsing for accessories... I know, I know, got too much stuff already, but what's the harm in admiring beauties? :p

.: SFMOMA :.

I'm having a hard time trying to decipher the meaning of modern arts. Most of the time I just can't believe it is art (hey, maybe that's the meaning of it: to mock classical art?) I do, however, love San Francisco's Museum of Modern Art. Lucky for me being an art student in SF, I can get free entry everyday until Aug 2008, so I have access to their exhibitions. My favorite was one from Joseph Cornell, who created shadow boxes out of his collectible ephemeras. His boxes are really amazing, well-organized and well thought of. Aside from the intriguing exhibitions and permanent collections, I also love the store *surprise, surprise*. Unlike other museum store, here you can find every art and design books you need, functional modern innovative products, and beautiful jewelries.
